Choosing the Right Generator

Although blackouts are inconvenient, if you are without power for an extended period of time, you may face a variety of issues, including spoiled food and icy showers as well as more serious issues.

Built-in emergency generators operate on a variety of fuels, typically natural gas, liquid propane, or diesel, and produce various levels of power. Some turn on by themselves, while others require manual activation. To give you peace of mind, Mission Electric can assist you in selecting the appropriate emergency generator for your home and installing it.

Safety Tips for Portable Generators

When running, ensure that each compartment is sealed.

Make sure you have enough fuel in your house to keep your electricity running during a long outage.

Be aware of your generator's wattage limitations and adhere to them.

Use with a UL‑listed transfer switch as required.

Only use the generator on flat surfaces.

The generator should only be turned on when absolutely necessary.

If you smell fuel, don't run the generator.

Make sure the generator is turned off and properly disconnected from fuses and connection equipment before you start working on it.

Never connect your generator to an electrical outlet!

If the generator has a crack or is leaking gas, fuel, oil, or another fluid, you should not use it. It might be risky.

Run your generator on a regular basis to ensure proper operation.
